Welcome to the Williams family blog ... following our first year in Crag View Cottage
It's 163 miles from Moorsyde Avenue in Sheffield to Crag View Cottage in Alnwick. That's a big move
for a little family. We're going to try and keep this blog up for a year to record our adventures,
excitement, challenges, highs, lows and woes as we settle in and make Crag View Cottage our home.

We now have an open fire - or at least we have had the chimney swept and the grate and fireguard arrived this week. The problem is it is hot - the weather, that is. It has been gloriously sunny and really not the weather to light a fire. So every night we wait impatiently for the cold and rain!
Having said that, we had a lovely evening tonight sat round the fire pit in the garden reading Winnie the Pooh.

In the last few weeks Fred has been coming home from nursery with armfuls of models made out of old cereal packets, egg boxes, plastic etc etc. One of his first was a gun! Then a couple of weeks ago I struggled to get a 3 foot church into the basket. But, yesterday he excelled himself ... when I picked him up from nursery he presented me with a model toilet brush. I really wasn't expecting that!

Well that was a very wet experience!
It started raining a few minutes after we set off, we stood for ages in the pouring wet, the Queen was half an hour late (I blame Prince Philip!), a very grumpy Girl Guide leader refused to ask her Guides to move so the little kids could see and it was all over in a couple of minutes. But, Fred saw both the Queen and Prince Philip. He waved his flags and cheered and decided he would like a posh car like hers one day. He says he enjoyed it and he successfully avoided poking anyone's eyes out with his flags or umbrella. But it was cold and wet and we had to retreat to Barter Books to sit by the fire and drink hot chocolates to warm up. We didn't make it to the afternoon walk about.
